HOW DENTAL IMPLANTS WORK

What it Take To Transform Your Smile

Before you dedicate your time and money to restoring your smile with dental implants, it makes sense that you’d want to know more about the process. During your initial consultation with your dentist, Dr. Adrian De Vincenzo, we will develop a customized treatment timeline so you know exactly what to expect. Our team will walk you through the process step-by-step leaving none of your questions left unanswered. To learn more about what it will take to restore your smile with the latest dental treatment, contact our office to schedule an appointment today.

Initial Dental Implant Consultation

If you’re curious about getting dental implants, the first step you should take is to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Vincenzo. During your visit, our team will conduct a thorough examination of your mouth and take X-rays of your facial structure to determine if you’re a good candidate for the dental implant procedure. Our office is equipped with the latest technology, including a 3D Cone Beam Scanner, which will allow us to precisely and accurately plan your surgery. Finally, we’ll craft your individualized treatment timeline so you know what to expect throughout the rest of the procedure.

This is also a great time to ask any questions or concerns you may have so we can get those addressed. We want to make sure that you have all of the information you need to make an informed and positive decision that dental implants are the best solution for you.

Dental Implant Surgery

After you’ve healed from any necessary preparatory procedures, we’ll move on to the next part of your dental implant process, which is your surgery. Dr. Vincenzo has undergone additional training and education to be able to place and restore implants himself, at Addison Family Dentistry.

Before the procedure begins, we will administer a local anesthetic to ensure that you’re completely numb and won’t feel a thing. If you’re anxious or uneasy, we also offer sedation dentistry to make you feel more comfortable. To insert your implants, we’ll make a small incision in your gum tissue and position the titanium post into your jawbone. Then, we’ll close up the incision area, allowing it to heal.

Dental Implant Osseointegration & Abutment

As you’re healing from your surgery, your dental implants will begin fusing with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration. This will create a stable and strong bond, allowing your restorations to remain securely in place while you eat and speak. After your gums have completely healed, which typically takes place over the course of a few months, we’ll place small, metal connector pieces called abutments. These will attach your replacement teeth to your implants.

Placement of Dental Implant Restorations

The final step of the process that everyone anxiously awaits is the placement of your custom-made restorations. As soon as they arrive at our office, we’ll call you in for your final appointment to secure and polish them. After this visit, you’ll be able to enjoy your newly transformed smile!
