Sedation Dentistry in Addison
Put Your Dental Fears Behind You
Whether the patient is young or old, Addison Family Dentistry has encountered those who suffer from dental-related anxiety, discomfort, and even fear or phobia. In cases where these issues are severe, these negative emotions can cause skipped appointments, allowing dental problems to worsen. Unfortunately, these are often issues that could have been avoided and even lessened if they had been treated sooner. At Addison Family Dentistry, Dr. De Vincenzo and Dr. Saremi want to help patients remain calm and comfortable no matter what, which is why they offer sedation dentistry as a solution. If you require sedation to complete your next appointment, give our dental office a call today to start planning your future visit!

Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry
Do you have mild to moderate levels of dental fear and/or discomfort? With oral conscious sedation, we can help you achieve a genuinely calm state throughout your entire procedure. We’ll start by prescribing you anti-anxiety medication, which should be taken at least an hour before your scheduled appointment. It’s true that you will not be entirely unconscious during treatment, as you will still be able to respond to questions. However, it’s unlikely that you’ll remember any of your treatment once you’ve fully recovered.
Nitrous Oxide Dental Sedation
If you’re looking for a stronger effect, you can always combine oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide to better prepare for your treatment. However, it can also be used on its own for children or adults looking to curtail mild anxiety. You may already know about nitrous oxide through it’s other name “laughing gas.” Of course, there is some truth to this name. The sedative is inhaled through a nasal mask, which then causes feelings of lightheadedness and contentment. After a few minutes, you should start to feel ready for treatment. What many patients enjoy about this sedative is its ability to keep patients at ease without long-term recovery effects. After treatment is done, you can not only continue your daily activities but even drive yourself home!
